Chiropractic a system of complementary medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments of the spinal column, which are held to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs.

 

  1. Educational  and licensing requirements for doctors of chiropractic (DCs) are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions.DCs are educated in nationally accredited, four-year doctoral graduate school programs  through a curriculum that includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical internship,  with the average DC program equivalent in classroom hours to allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) medical schools. They are designated as physician-level providers in the vast majority of states and federal Medicare program. The essential services provided by DCs are also available in federal health delivery systems, including those administered by Medicaid, the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense, Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, Federal Workers' Compensation, and all state workers' compensation programs. 

  2. Certification and licensure of chiropractors is governed by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE).  DCs must pass a board exam and then obtain a license in the state in which they wish to practice. Chiropractors must meet yearly continuing education requirements to maintain their licensure.

The Physical Therapist is a member of the home care team who provides rehabilitation care to the clients as requested by the client and, when required, as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and the policies of the Agency.

 

  1. Possesses a degree from a baccalaureate or masters program in physical therapy approved by an accredited organization.
  2. Is licensed to practice as physical therapist within the State of Oklahoma.
  3. Has at least two years of appropriate experience as a physical therapist. Community/home health experience is preferred.
  4. Complies with accepted professional standards and practice.
  5. Possesses and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Has presented a preemployment screening including a negative TB skin test and/or CXR and other tests as required by the Agency.
  6. Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
